About Perennial Pastures

Perennial Pastures exists to restore and strengthen the connection between land, animals, food, and community.

Inspired by the regenerative farming principles of Joel Salatin, Jason McEvilly founded Perennial Pastures in Belgium, Wisconsin, in 2023. What began with pigs, sheep, and chickens has grown into a working farm centered around a simple idea: raise animals with respect, work with the land rather than against it, and build a local food system where resources are valued instead of wasted.

Our primary focus is pasture-raised pigs. They have the freedom to root, roam, forage, and express their natural behaviors while contributing to the health and renewal of the land beneath their feet. We believe that giving animals a good life matters, not only for their welfare, but for the quality and integrity of the food they ultimately provide.

Local partnerships are another important part of how we farm. Produce and other foods from businesses like Maglios Produce, Lakeshore Foods, Black Husky Brewery, Milwaukee Pretzel, and other locally sourced materials are given a new purpose on the farm. These relationships help reduce waste while creating a more circular, resilient local food system.

We’re continuing to thoughtfully grow our herds and develop Perennial Pastures, aiming to offer pasture-raised meats directly to our community through an online CSA subscription, along with select wholesale partnerships.

Our “why” is simple: to build something better - for the land, for our animals, and for the people we feed.

This is farming rooted in respect, sustained by community, and guided by the belief that we should leave the land better than we found it.
